About Us
In 2006, the world of Sleep Medicine came to Salt Lake City, headquarters of Iron Road Healthcare (Iron Road), when the annual international conference of sleep physicians, scientists, technologists, and other caregivers came to town.
Over the course of attending parts of this week-long conference, Iron Road Healthcare management and clinical staff saw first-hand the impact that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep related conditions have on the overall health of people. With this in mind, Iron Road moved to think out-of-the-box on how Iron Road could deliver exceptional care in this area to our members. Thereby improving their overall health.
As part of this effort, Iron Road also recognized the traditional methods of testing for OSA was not convenient for its membership. It was difficult for our members to plan for a traditional sleep test in a laboratory, given that they were subject to work calls twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week. As a result, Iron Road was an early adopter of “at home” sleep testing. This provided the needed convenience for our members to schedule when they wished to receive their test and were able to do so in the privacy of their own homes. Iron Road also examined ways to make the treatment of OSA more convenient for our members, while also providing state-of-the-art care. As part of this initiative, in 2006, Iron Road established a relationship with a leading manufacturer of CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) devices.
The combination of innovative testing, industry leading equipment for treatment and affordable co-pays while helping our members through the coordinating and facilitating of care in this area, led to the creation of a unique program.
The result of this year-long endeavor was the creation of The Complete Sleep Program in 2007. It was considered “cutting edge” by the sleep industry at the time. Its mission is to provide Iron Road members with state-of-the-art medical care involving Sleep Medicine. Its success has been recognized by several labor and private organizations as a model for delivering excellent care at affordable costs. We have not stopped in our efforts, adding Oxygen therapy, (for those that qualify), nebulizers and the creation of a website full of information and helpful tools for our members.
